A charitable thought

Since a very early age, I was  interested in giving to charity or aspiring to organize a charitable event myself. I often felt moved by the thought of people helping others to live better lives. Then I would think of ways to maximize benefits and different schemes where the poor will be educated to work and help themselves believing in the saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a life time.”

Yet, I used to wonder when celebrities, who had millions, asked people to donate. I used to think that if they give a bit more they can sort the problem but then I realize what was very important about charity in a community. It is involvement! No individual is responsible to solve the problems of the globe but rather the global community must share in bettering itself. For instance if one person gave a thousand pounds to a cause it would be more of a self goodness, but when one thousand people give one pound each then there is more focus on the cause, more awareness and more unity.

In my view, charity is about getting as many people as possible involved to create an awareness that would lead to change :) Not always through financial methods as in some cases joint efforts would suffice.
