Segmentation is key
I tend to go with the holistic approach and try to solve the problems of the world and get overwhelmed in the process. In addition to finding out that some problems where not worth tackling as they were not considered problems in the first place for the people in question. 
It is very important to segment things, be it a problem or a target audience for a product or even a piece of writing. When you can characterize the person you are trying attract then you will find better tools and a more suitable approach to go about it. The objective will be clearer and so your vision will not be compromised by the many distractions presented by the various routes and options that confront us on daily basis. Just aim and then take flight
