Mother’s day

Mother’s day coincides to the first day of spring and Norouz (the first day of the Persian calender). While many in the Arab world might be focusing on celebrating motherhood and their own mother’s in particular a thought should go to all who care about us. This include aunts, special friends, grandmother, teacher etc.

On a larger scope it should encompass all who or what has contributed to lovingly nurture us. This thought should include the land, country, and Earth we live on. It might be a symbolic appreciation that should be followed by some action on our part. In the same way that our mother deserves our love we need to respect, protect and appreciate mother Earth. For whom without we cannot survive.

As a simple thought, and we need to take many similar steps, I thought of a small difference that would collectively contribute to the environment, hence help protect the Earth. It is not a novel thought, instead of continuously using batteries you can opt to use rechargeable batteries. It is less convenient but would spare the environment from some waste.
