A business conference

Yesterday, as I checked my messages, I found one from a facebook group I recently joined (Yalla shabab). It was an invitation to attend a business conference for small businesses, run by youth. I saw a list of lectures so I thought I will try to squeeze it in my schedule. It is a day off, I reasoned, so I better maximize the use of every hour before I bury myself in my studies again. After a long day of hopping between different locations I arrived to the conference in time for the first talk which already had started. It was by one of the first female MPs, Dr Rola Dashti, followed by two more talks, by Fowzi Althinayan and Adnan AlQinaie and then two entrepreneurs of an environmentally driven recycling project took to the stage and told their success story. I thought the event was handled very well and was happy to meet the organizers, sponsors, speakers and the attendees. I just wished more youth attended it or knew about it. It is a start of hopefully many more events to come from the organizers to encourage a dialog between young minds and funding bodies to help launch bright ideas. The event continues today with talks starting at 7pm.
